WONDERFUL VINTAGE PINE CONE CHENILLE, SPUN COTTON, MICA GLITTERED SANTA PIXIE ELF ON SNOW SKIS. What a great old Christmas decoration. Vintage Christmas holiday figurines and decorations such as these, were sold in the five and dime stores such as Woolworths, Murphy's, after WWII, when exports from Japan began, and trade was established between our countries. This time period, late 1940's-1950's, was the "Golden Age" of Christmas Holiday decorations. Our little Santa elf stands on a pair of mica snow covered skis. Spun cotton feet, felt hat. Little ski poles in his hands. He has a hand painted spun cotton head, chenille arms and beard. Large mica snow covered pine cone body. He is freestanding to use in your Christmas Village, Nativity or Putz, or use him as an ornament. The pine cone Santa elf is in very good vintage condition, as shown in the photos. He measures about 3 1/4"tall, 2 1/4"long. Ink stamped on the bottom of the skis, "JAPAN".
