WONDERFUL LARGE SIZE, VINTAGE CHRISTMAS VILLAGE, JEWEL EYE CELLULOID REINDEER FIGURINE #2. What a great old Christmas Holiday decoration. Perfect for your Christmas village, Nativity, Putz, or model railroad under the tree. Christmas village decorations such as these, were sold in the local five and dime stores, from small towns to large metro cities after WWII, when exports from Germany and Japan to the U.S. began again. U.S. production of Christmas Holiday decorations continued thru the war years, but on a very limited basis, due to rationing of so many materials. This was the "Golden Age" of Christmas Holiday decorations, 1940's-1960's. Rich, vibrant coloration. Beautiful detailing into the celluloid mold. Great large size scale. And those vibrant red jewel eyes!! The reindeer is in very good vintage condition, free of chips or cracks, as shown in the photos. He measures about 6" long, 4 3/4" tall. Marked into the mold, "JAPAN". For more information and history on vintage Christmas items, visit The Golden Glow of Christmas Past web site.
