WONDERFUL LARGE SCALE VINTAGE DICKSON CERAMICS, CHRISTMAS SANTA CLAUS PLANTER / CANDY CONTAINER FIGURINE. What a great old Christmas Holiday decoration. Many ceramic companies along with Lefton, Napco and Inarco, produced a full line of Santa, Holiday, Birthday, Angel and pixie figurines during this time period. Christmas ceramic and porcelain figurines such as this Santa, were sold in the local five and dime stores, from small towns to large metro cities after WWII, when exports from Japan began and trade was established again with the U.S. That would have been late 1940's, into the early 1960's....the "Golden Age" of Christmas ceramics. Rich, vibrant hand painted coloration. Beautiful detailing into the cast ceramic mold. The Santa figure, open sack over his shoulder, is perfect for a Holiday planter, small fresh cut flowers or a candy container. Santa is in very good vintage condition, free of chips or cracks, as shown in the photos. He measures about 7 1/2" tall, 5 1/2" front to back, 5 1/4" wide. There is the original gold and black paper sticker, "DICKSON MADE IN JAPAN", and an ink stamp, "JAPAN".
